A Post On
Pride Season by Crispy2 critterZ@webtv.net
Pride Primer with the GayPrideBoyZ
So my good friend
Marty called me tonight from Florida, to tell me that
he is going to the gay pride parade tomorrow in Ft. Lauderdale,
since it
goes right by his neighborhood. (But this is an accomplishment,
as
these things go, since Marty has usually wanted to avoid these
"public"
gay spectacles...)
But I see that he
is becoming less afraid of what the "str8" friends
he
has think about him, as I have been telling him to do for years...
But
for the last twenty-five years Marty has been my best friend,
through
thick and thin (as it were ;^); even though he would never go
to a Gay
Pride Parade with me. And although that made me feel bad, in
those
years when we had a chance to go to a Gay Pride Day Parade together--
in
Houston, in Miami, and in Ft. Lauderdale-- he never wanted to
go. So
I'd go by myself, or with my next-best-friend NiteCritter Todd.
HE was
always ready for a good flame-out! ;-)
And I ALWAYS march
in the parade! Somewhere in there... And I always
felt my spirit renewed, and a sense of community with my world,
when I
marched in a Pride Parade! And I don't mind at all that Gay Pride
celebrations are getting commercialized, with big-name sponsors
with big
bucks-- isn't this what the gay pride parades started out to
try to
promote in the first place? It is!
And even though those
big bucks will try to control you, the gay pride
movement is so much stronger than any individual sponsor is,
that they
will "always" come around to "our" way of
thinking if they want our
money enough, and are willing to put up with the political heat
to get
it. And that's what's so great about capitalism, right? ;-)
So I was thinking
about what Marty had told me, and I decided to write a
message about Gay Pride Day-- it's that time of year, you know,
even if
the President of the United States won't admit it-- they had
the parade
in Key West last weekend, and this weekend it's the parade in
Ft.
Lauderdale, and next weekend the parade is here in Atlanta.
And then I remembered
the website of my best cyberfriend HBboy Dave in
which he has posted pictures that he has taken at gay pride festivals
up
and down the California coast over the past few years-- of only
the
hottest numbers, ya gotta appreciate... ;^)
But I couldn't remember
the URL, so I MSN Messengered him, and he
responded immediately with the URL to GayPrideBoyZ.com So even
if you
don't have the opportunity, or the inclination, to march in a
Gay Pride
Parade on some Sunday this month, you can visit with the Gay
Pride BoyZ,
and maybe even lust over them ;^), as you celebrate the heritage
that
has only come to you in your lifetime.
And Dave told me that
he was about to leave for the WeHo Pride parade
tomorrow. and when I asked him what THAT was, he explained that
it was
the West Hollywood, California, Parade; and it is the largest
Gay Pride
parade on the West Coast next to San Francisco's (where Pansy
Division
will be performing)! And he said he will e taking a lot of pictures
there to post on GayPrideBoyZ.com. Truly a public servant! ;-)
So be sure to check
out the Gay Pride BoyZ, and get PROUD! Or at least,
horny... :^):

But there have been
many like you, and me, and us, before; but we
couldn't talk about it. But we're talking about it now!
Why? Because we are
what we are, and there is NO reason to try to
change the way that God has made us! It is not necessary to apologize
to anybody!
So be proud that you
are gay. We are a special people, gifted in ways
that ordinary "str8" people are not. So try to use
those gifts to make
this world a better place for all of us to live in, even the
str8
people; because when we feel better about them (as hard as it
may seem),
they will feel better about us (as hard as it may be for them).
That's
what "I" think.
But who am "I"?
Just another fifty-something lonely gay guy in Atlanta
waiting for his boy to come in, and looking forward to the Gay
Pride
Parade next weekend. Who knows what may happen THIS year?
It's the "hope
that springs eternal in the human breast" again. But
that's what keeps me going! Happy Gay Pride Day!
Luv ya, my friends.
